Information Versus Knowledge
“Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.” – Gertrude Stein
We are bombarded on a daily basis with information. Information on anything and everything is a click away on the Internet. Want to become an expert on something…hit the Internet! But are we experts at the end of the day? Or do we just have a whole lot of “information” about something? Information without understanding the practical application of it, is simply an answer to a trivia question. The Internet has created a gigantic opportunity for peddlers of information. However the Internet has done a poor job of helping people find the knowledgeable resources they need to make great business decisions.
The Internet is endangering the “common sense” development of a generation.
Information availability has made my job tougher. My job is now convincing people of the difference between information and knowledge. My head hurts!
“Information is not knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
