Video Systems Design Engineer
This position is based at Human Circuit’s Corporate Headquarters and Integration Lab in Gaithersburg, Maryland. A Video Systems Design Engineer designs, engineers, and implements professional video broadcast systems. This includes the development of system architectures, detailed design specifications, and integration of complex systems across video, audio, and control platforms.
Responsibilities:

Design and develop video broadcast systems for various applications including studio production, live events, corporate broadcast, and post-production environments.

Create detailed engineering drawings, block diagrams, and cable run-lists using CAD software.

Collaborate with sales, project managers, and clients to determine system requirements, ensuring technical feasibility and optimal design.

Evaluate and select appropriate equipment and technology, including cameras, switchers, video servers, routers, encoders/decoders, and distribution systems.

Integrate audio, video, and control systems, ensuring seamless operation across all platforms.

Stay current with industry standards, including SMPTE, IP video workflows (e.g., NDI, SMPTE 2110), and emerging trends in video broadcast technology.

Provide technical support to integration team, ensuring systems are installed and configured per design specifications.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with system performance and compatibility during testing and commissioning phases.

Provide training and documentation to clients on system operation.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of experience designing and integrating broadcast video systems.

Strong understanding of video and audio signal flow, compression standards and video over IP.

Proficiency with broadcast equipment and workflow.

Experience with control systems and automation.

Familiarity with audio-visual integration standards, routing, switching, and signal distribution.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, or similar design software.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
